Why we do it

Public transport is the answer.

It plays a vital role in tackling climate change, car dependency and unequal access to mobility. Shared bikes, scooters and cars complement it. But more people will use these services only if they are easy to use.

Information is fragmented.

Every operator has its own app, and none is really good. A journey across several cities or across several operators means multiple apps, multiple websites and even more guesswork. It is the same with bikes and scooters: every provider has its own app.

Data is out of reach.

Independent solutions are often better than the official ones, but struggle to access data. Operators share it with the biggest player, Google Maps, but not with others. Developers are left with expensive paid access. We miss out on better apps, while a tech giant becomes an even more powerful data intermediary.

You paid for (most of) it.

Public transport serves its passengers, so they have a right to timetables, arrivals and other data in whichever way suits them best. Software and data funded by public money should be freely available for everyone to use and adapt. Public Money, Public Code.

Our work

Everything we build is open.

We collect up-to-date data directly from public transport providers. We help them with tools, and where data is missing, we create it ourselves.

We develop and host a unified API for all public transport data in Slovenia, free and open to everyone.

We are building one app for timetables across the country, covering urban and intercity services, buses, trains, bikes and car sharing.

We contribute data to existing open-source solutions such as OpenStreetMap, OpenTripPlanner and Transitous.

You can also use the app to buy IJPP tickets for intercity buses and trains, without visiting a ticket office. Buying your ticket through us supports app development and makes more data available.

Data

What we collect is available to everyone.

For creative uses: a combined train and bus timeline, timetables in your calendar, departures on your smartwatch, a tourist journey planner, or a hallway mirror that tells you when the next bus leaves.

Licence? Use at your own risk :)

Source data licences vary between operators or are unspecified, so check with the source before commercial use. The law is clear, though: dynamic data from public services must be available for reuse through appropriate APIs.

We need you too!

Test the app, check the data, create new uses, help with development or converse with municipalities and operators, or simply spread the word.
